Back to Black

Well, it's not like I ever left when you think about it ;). I'm back to my blog after a long hiatus dealing with the graduating from law school/taking the bar exam and now frantically searching for a job.

I don't know what is worse, waiting to take the bar or the wait to find out your results. So many of my friends tried to warn me about the whole process and I took their warnings seriously, but I never knew what an emotional toll the whole process can take on a person.

Listen, law school is no joke. Neither is taking the bar exam. So many of us try to convince people not to go to law school because frankly, if you don't devote 110% of your time to school, then you will find yourself with a ton of student loans and no way to pay it off.  Law school isn't undergrad. You aren't going to sneak by through studying the night before the exam. And don't think that you can spend the last two weeks before the bar exam studying for the test. I started studying May 15 (I graduated two days earlier) and I still feel as if I had no clue what I was doing.

The legal career is a field where your self-worth is very much tied to how well you do in school, out of school, and on the job.  It isn't a profession where you leave work at the door when you come home. Work comes with you through the blackberry, in your email, and over the phone. You're late to work if you don't get into the office by 7AM and you don't have weekends off. Unless you feel in the very fiber of your being that death will become of you if you don't go to law school then by all means, go out there and pile up $100,000 in student loan debt and gamble that you will outstudy, outmanuever, and work harder than that guy who sleeps in the law library for weeks on end. Otherwise, find a new career.

That being said, I wouldn't have changed a thing. I hated the egos in law school, but I sure do love the law. I adore helping people solve their problems and I relish the fact that I am able to use my skills to help my family. I hope I pass this thing because I have a lot of work to do and very little time to get it done.

Guess who's bizzack?

P.S. Regardless of whether I pass/fail on Oct. 28- don't contact me. I'll contact you if and when I'm ready.

Today's Obsession

No, it's not Keira Knightley.. although she looks particularly healthy in this picture. I absolutely love Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. I'm a picky perfume person, if the scent is too overwhelming I will literally start gagging. Thank goodness for the deliciousness known as Chanel. This perfume has a gorgeous softness about it, the kind of softness you only find when you cuddle with a puppy or eat cotton.

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I'm tempted to go out and buy a bottle. Too bad it's absolutely outrageously expensive. A bottle will last you a while, but the upfront costs are enough to make you think twice about forking over $90.00.

Monday Morning Musings

I hate Monday morning. I hate mornings in general these days, but Monday morning definitely takes the cake. Last night I had a terrific time hanging out and watching the Super Bowl. This morning I'm paying for it in the form of tons of work to do before class and Moot Court practice at five. FML.

Less than three months until I'm done with law school. What a strange journey I had. The ups, downs, victories and losses seem to pile up over the past two years. It has definitely made me stronger and for that I am eternally grateful. Who knows what my new journey will look like. I have to study for the bar and by August 1st, my law school journey will be 3/4ths of the way finished. Now if only I can find a job!

The Bachelor

I watched the Bachelor last night. I can't help it, I know that the show won't end in a lasting relationship, I mean how the hell are you supposed to pick our a husband/wife by having tryouts. Not to mention you're being tapped on camera every single day.

Well, one of the contestants said the most beautiful thing, she said she "hoped to be someone's someone someday." I have no doubt she will find that someone, but at the same time did she really think her odds were that good?

Anyone who goes on the Bachelor probably has a gambling problem.  Rolling the dice and hoping that out of all the women on the show, they will fall in love with the wonderful prince. No one has the heart to shake these women and say, hey didn't you know, "The house always wins baby."

Obsession of the Day

Christian Louboutin Tape Measurer Sandals. Inspiring. Creative. Gorgeous. Can't pick out enough adjectives to describe how much I love this shoe. Too bad it's way out of my price range. I've decided to become a much more conservative spender in 2011, so I'm foregoing buying $800.00 shoes. Here's to hoping this baby goes on sale in August.

I'm a "shoe-in",

New Year Resolved

Bonjour 2011!

I haven't written in a very long time. Why, you ask? School, friends, family and the dog are all impediments on my ability to write on a daily basis. I've also tried to get back into the swing of exercise. Not for the sake of my health but for the sake of my ever shrinking wardrobe.

Meetings are annoying, not to mention so 10 years ago.

Sunday Post

If you haven't taken the time to fall back, please do so soon! I woke up this morning at around 8AM, energized and ready to take on the huge to-do list that keeps piling up in my corner. I'm attempting to find a job, complete school work, work out, and maintain my home all at the same time. Exams are in about a month and I can't shake the feeling that I've bitten off more than I can chew. I have a new work study job that I am very excited about because I will not only gain more income, but also have a chance to use all of my legal learning.

Three day "work week" this week. Classes are cancelled for Veteran's Day and one of my professors has graciously cancelled classes for two days in a row. Whew. Fantastic. Just two classes Monday-Wednesday instead of the grueling trifecta on Mon/Tuesday. I plan to use the time to review the work I've done thus far and finish my moot court brief.

Well, I better get back to work. I'm looking forward to the next few days, I have some friends from out of town coming to visit and someone very special is celebrating their 25th birthday this (and next) week.

Falling Back,
